The SP Group provides the following services for each industrial alcohol category regulated by the Trade and Tax Bureau (TTB).
Tax Free Alcohol
Tax-free alcohol is un-denatured alcohol used for nonbeverage purposes in scientific research in laboratories. The SP Group can assist clients in:
- Preparing application to obtain a tax-free alcohol permit.
- Establishing signature authority.
- Preparing and submitting special tax registration and return.
- Preparing a letterhead application for large containers of reagent alcohol.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining records of receipt and use.
- Implementing security programs and conducting required inventory audits.
Specially Denatured Alcohol (SDA)
Specially Denatured Alcohol is alcohol that has had denaturing materials added and is not intended for consumption. The SP Group can assist clients in:
- Preparing application to obtain an SDA user permit.
- Establishing signing authority.
- Preparing and submitting special tax registration and return.
- Selecting the proper approved SDA for use.
- Preparing and submittal of statement of process for articles made with SDS to the National Laboratory.
- Preparation and submittal of annual user's report.
Nonbeverage (Taxed) Alcohol
Nonbeverage alcohol is pure alcohol that is the same as alcohol for consumption. When used outside of the tax-free alcohol regulations, an excise tax is required to be paid when it is purchased. The SP Group can assist clients in:
- Establishing signature authority.
- Preparing process formulas and submitting to the National Laboratory
- Preparing recordkeeping mechanisms to ensure an accurate record of alcohol use.
- Preparing drawback claims for tax refund.
